iphone 3gs, itunes 8, linux, vmware (xp)
yee, my iphone's here.
to register it, itunes is needed. didn't get it quickly to work with wine, so i tried with vmware xp.
installing itunes in my guest xp was no problem. but plugging my iphone and enabeling it in vmware resulted in a fancy bluescreen. yay!
searching the web gave me the solution:

Success came when I enabled the XP image for USB 2.0 by adding the following lines to the VMX file:
ehci.pciSlotNumber = "19"

Virtual maschine mit VMWare Player
Der VMware Player (Player) ist eine tolle Software, um mit Virtual Maschines (VM) zu arbeiten.
Bis man aber damit arbeiten kann, muss man zuerst eine VM erstellen. Und das ist der mühsame und aufwändige Teil der Geschichte.
Denn der Player von sich aus kann, wie der Name schon sagt, nur "abspielen", also widergeben.
Mir sind nun zwei Möglichkeiten bekannt, eine VM zu erstellen:
- Die Software VMware Workstation oder VMware Server herunterladen
- Manuell und mithilfe von qemu
